The Classroom Bottleneck
NodeBook was born in the classroom. While teaching complex technical subjects, it became clear that forcing multi-dimensional concepts into linear slides and static textbooks was holding students back. Even early attempts with existing visual tools proved too limiting because topics were confined to rigid slide frames and navigation was clunky.
The Reader's Need
Beyond teaching, the same challenge appeared while reading and summarizing dense material. Traditional note-taking tools fell short when structuring interconnected ideas, making it clear that books themselves should be authored, organized, and read in a visual hierarchy.

Hatem Deif is an Assistant Professor in AI and holds 3 engineering patents. As an educator and engineer, he experienced the limitations of linear teaching tools firsthand while designing complex mathematics and engineering courses. Driven by a deep desire to make learning more intuitive, he authored NodeBook's core algorithms and patented technology. Today, he leads product architecture and research at NodeBook—designing the platform end-to-end and authoring visual courses—to transform static material into connected knowledge trees.
